1st -30th Nov, 2019‬, AIOS – Diabetes & EYEcare month

Greetings from AIOS President!

Since ‪Nov 14th‬ is considered as the “World Diabetes Day”, AIOS has declared November month as “Diabetes & EYEcare”,  I desire Diabetic Retinopathy camps to be conducted in the whole month of November, in every corner of  the Nation, so that maximum diabetic patients will be benefitted.

I hope all are aware about my AIOS 5 Point vision dream which is as follows:
1.     ONE VISION - ONE INDIA - ONE AIOS
2.     a)  Celebrating 200 Glorious years of Modern Ophthalmology in India.
        B) Celebrating centenary celebrations of first, exclusive and the biggest ophthalmic museum-                   Elliot museum and school  of ophthalmology, established in 1919.
3.     Mammoth rural eye care,
        a) ‘Rasta dekho’ (screening for truck drivers across India)
        b) ‘ (EYE)I See You’ (school children eye screening)
4.     STOP Blindness- Nationwide Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Program- ‘Jyot Se Jyot Jalao!’
5.     Nationwide drive - Eye Donation pledges.

Taking ahead Vision 4, which is Nationwide Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Program, I invite you all to conduct FREE DR screening in all cities and villages in India ‪from 1st‬ ‪Nov to 30th Nov‬, thereby, promoting Diabetic Blindness Free India.Currently India has 73 million DIABETICS.

Under the banner of AIOS, we have collaborated with Cipla Ltd., to organize DR screening camps. I am also in the process of an agreement with National Society for Prevention of Blindness (NSPB), Zeiss, Forus, Remedio, TOPCON, etc.,  for a similar collaboration, for maximum reach to the Diabetic Patients.

Aios is closely working with Ornate India - Smart India study to promote DR awareness and Advocacy.

I am also in discussions with all corporate & pharma companies, Government officials, State Ministers, ophthalmological societies , IMA, RSSDI, OMAG, API, etc., for their support.

I request one and all to come forward and support this noble cause, and reach 6 million villages. Also I am in talks with the Prime Minister Office for Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s – “MANN KI BAAT”, to spread the message in TV, Newspapers, & Social Medias.

I request all of you to play this in reception area, common places to create awareness on diabetic blindness.

I welcome your ideas and inputs for the success of this event. I have also asked Ms. Laxmi Balaji – my EA, to find the number of DR screened so far in India in the past 10 years. I welcome similar statistics from your end.

I have created banners, Graphic slides, which I will circulate and also put it in website. This can be freely used by all with AIOS banner to eradicate DIABETIC BLINDNESS.
